MILES FOR MIKE

In June 2020, I started Miles for Mike in honor/memory of my little brother, Mikie, 34mi ... his last ride. He loved the outdoors and riding his motorcycle.....always looking for new state parks to explore. The miles, whichever way you choose to complete them, not only offers those who participate the opportunity to honor and remember him, it provides the reassurance that he is not alone in his adventures.

Friends and family can purchase a T-shirt and post pictures along the way, giving the opportunity to pause and share a few words or memories about Mike at the #MILES4MIKE Facebook group page.

It doesn't stop there! With all the support from friends and family, #Miles4Mike now partners with XP League in Hanover PA, helping kids learn his favorite game - League of Legends. Mom, Dad, and all Mike's sisters now have the Mikie Sumner Foundation established and all proceeds earned/donated help sponsor kids to play in these gaming camps in Mike's name.

My brother was my touchstone in life.

Whenever I think of my brother, I smile. He was the best of us. I miss my brother every second of every waking moment.

#Miles4Mike.

#MILESFORMIKE HERO 2020

Capt. Landymore

My sisters Kristy Neyra and Amanda Topper have the pleasure of serving in the United States Army with this one-of-a-kind lady you see to your left. While most people only see it as those who serve are part of a "Military Family", they are sadly mistaken. Over the years, mainly Kristy's 20+ years in the service, we have come to know and love their brother and sisters in arms as much as our own family. It's something truly amazing to be a part of. What Capt. Landymore accomplished in 2020 to help us remember and honor Mikie is extraordinary! The commitment and drive she had to support her Military Family were above and beyond. I don't think any of us have the words to even express our thanks, so I 'm going to post Capt. Landymore's own words from this post off the #MILESFORMIKE page:

"Did something new for a challenge, made it pretty far for a week of running >100 miles

I average 50-60 mile weeks and occasionally have gotten a 70-75 mile week in big training weeks... But probably 5 times or less in my 10 years of running...Anyway, I'm in the middle a few challenges right now... The biggest though is to honor Mike. Because I already run so much is been tough to figure out how to push myself.... I'm shooting for a 34 mile run next week, which is daunting for a midweek challenge....I'd like to say I'll hit 334 miles for June... I'll say- I'm going to try!

(Even if I don't make this lofty goal... Every mile this month has meaning) #family #loveforall #justkeepgoing #lovelife"

As Capt. Landymore said #family #loveforall, and with that, we say thank you Capt. Landymore!

Due to her accomplishment, we would like to recognize 1 person every year going forward as the #MILESFORMIKEHERO. There will be a small gift for the person who completes the most miles in the month of June during the event. Please make sure you share your progress on the #MILESFORMIKE facebook page.

#MILESFORMIKE HERO 2022

Kim Meinzer

This is the first actual year for the #MILESFORMIKE HERO. This lady killed it this year! Most days she did 10+ miles either on her bike or treadmill! Not only that, waking up at 3-4 in the morning to get her miles in to show her support for our family! In total, Kim completed 213.51 miles in the month of June! It's amazing how we all come together during Mikie's month to honor him.

Great Job Kim! And thank you for your continued support for #MILES4MIKE every year! It's the supporters like you that help make the foundation possible along with our sponsorships!
